Item Description

At the end of 2011, there was a find of some attractive Tourmaline specimens from the Camp Robin area of Madagascar. These crystals were sold to me as being Liddicoatite, but as of 2011, Liddicoatite is no longer a valid mineral species. This is an excellent gemmy/translucent parallel-growth crystal, as it has fine complex form, luster and sharpness. The vibrant colors of the mottled interior range from cranberry-red to bright pink to a rarely seen golden-orange color throughout the prism. The crystal has excellent luster, is gemmy when backlit and the colors explode. Two back prism faces are lightly etched/frosted. The crystal is technically doubly terminated, as the broken base is rehealed and has overgrowths of tiny white crystals. A very fine and pristine example of the find. 103 grams mass. Valued at $2000-2500.
