Lovely, gemmy, and lustrous, this bi-colored, terminated Elbaite Tourmaline is classic for the famous Himalaya Mine. The luster is highlighted by the fine striations, but that very same texture hides the fine gemminess from the camera, but not from the eye as you hold it up to the light and admire it. The termination is sharp and complex, and the variation between the pinks and greens attractive. This is an older style Himalaya, likely mined in the 70's or 80s before large-scale commercial mining took over. It is 58 grams, hefty for the size. From the extensive collection of Bob Reynolds, who cherished both minerals and fossils as he collected. Bob is a prolific author and has had several curating positions in museums.
