Item Description

This is certainly the most unusual, yet more interesting tourmalines we have ever seen from the famous Tourmaline Queen Mine, famed for the 1972 "Blue Cap" find. A 3.8 x 3.3 x 1.8 cm, terminated, tapered wedge of lustrous, translucent, variably pink tourmaline crystal is very aesthetically perched atop three, intergrown, angled, doubly terminated quartz crystals, which in turn, rest on bladed cleavelandite. The front and back of the tourmaline have striking, intense stepped-growth with one side having sharp and lustrous faces with more intensely pink color. The sharp face on the other side is frosted. Complete all-around and very nearly pristine, with only very modest bruising to two of the quartz terminations in the front, which is certainly not detracting to the striking visual aspect of this very rare tourmaline form from this noted locale. This piece is from a 1984 find at the Queen. Valued at $600-800 for unique form and combination.
