Item Description

Elegant and unusual, this is very atypical for the location - it must be seen in person to appreciate fully the play of colors on the surface of this very unusual chatoyant green Tourmaline cluster from Pakistan with slightly divergent, green Elbaite Tourmaline crystals that all exhibit a bright chatoyance and luster from top to bottom. All of the component crystals display a dark green, gemmy cap...on both ends! The heft of the group seems somewhat light and a broken crystal on the side reveals that it is hollow suggesting a complicated history for this Tourmaline! No less than two dozen crystals constitute this beautiful and perplexing piece. The gem green terminations on the top end are perfectly formed and complete. Terminations on the tapered opposing end are a mosaic of small pyramids and are also lustrous. One trivial broken crystal on the side is the only casualty on the piece and is barely noticeable yet it divulges the piece's violent history in the ground. Donated by Arkenstone. Valued $1500.
