Item Description
Tourmalines are some of the most diverse and popular gems out there. They're one of the few gems that occur in natural bicolor (and TRIcolor) stones as well. The majority of bicolor Tourmalines on the market have come from Brazil for a long time, and remain as some of the most attractive in the gem world. This "Elongated Cut Corner Rectangle" cut stone shows a distinct pink color on one end, with a gorgeous green color on the other end and a beautiful colorless zone in the middle. There are actually two different shades of green in the stone, so it could be technically called a "four color" Tourmaline. One of the most impressive aspects of this gem is the fact that it is VERY clean, with only very very slight inclusions which is incredibly good for Tourmaline. Tourmaline is classified as a "Type 3" gemstone, as inclusions are almost always present, and accepted by dealers and collectors, so when you find a stone like this, especially a tricolor gem, it's a real treat. I have to say that these stones are becoming harder and harder to find these days and with so many gem Tourmalines coming out of Africa and Afghanistan lately, there is certainly competition for good ones. A wonderful naturally occurring stone for your collection or a piece of custom jewelry. Valued at $400 per carat.
