Item Description
Here we have a lovely miniature size multicolor crystal group with an attractive pyramidal termination, glassy luster and good gem clarity in areas. Afghanistan has truly produced some of the most attractive Tourmaline specimens around for the last 35 years or so, and they have really held their own against Tourmalines from other world localities. The crystals on this specimen have very pale pink (nearly colorless) pyramidal terminations which grades into a beautiful sot blue color that transitions into a lovely light pink hue at the base of the prisms. The piece is complete all the way around, with no major damage of note (save the bottom where it was removed from the pocket). There is a separation mark on the back of the piece where it was intergrown with presumably another Tourmaline crystal in the pocket. The pyramidal faces are just as lustrous and the prism faces, and the piece isn't frosted or dull whatsoever. It is becoming more and more difficult to obtain superb quality Tourmalines from Paprok for decent prices, as the locals seem to be charging more and more for them after each new find. It has also come to my attention that the Chinese are buying up a large percentage of the gem grade Tourmalines from this area, so less and less material has been available on the market in recent years. Valued in the inventory at $1,950. Specimen weigh is 34.40 grams.
