Item Description

An impressive 8.7 cm bi-colored tourmaline dominates this striking, sculptural and aesthetic small cabinet combination from one of the well-known pegmatites in Nuristan. The gemmy, very glassy and lustrous, trigonal, layered prism with satin luster faces is colorless in the upper 4.5 cm and colorless to light green in the lower section. The gemmy to translucent, glassy, sharply terminated smoky quartz crystal is dramatically accented with gemmy, terminated and sections of pink tourmalines, to 2.8 cm. The snow-white cleavelandite blades at the base are a fine complement and typical accessory. Three clean repairs are noted on the large tourmaline, certainly acceptable in the context of pegmatite species of this elegance and freestanding nature - at a price. Older material from the 1980s and 1990s. Ex Herb Obodda dealer stock, who imported the specimen. Valued by the former dealer at $2800. Stunning presentation on this wonderful combination piece.
