Tourmaline (RARE locality)

Item Description

This is a notably hard to find Tourmaline crystal from Ijero in the Ekiti State of Nigeria. This is one of only two Tourmaline specimens we've ever had to offer from this little-known locale, that according to mindat.org, is better known for its tin production. The piece is a well-formed, prismatic group of rather gemmy rich blue-green colored crystals, free of matrix. The piece honestly looks to be doubly-terminated, as the lower end is not broken, and seem to either have re-crystallized ("re-healed"), or grew against the pocket wall. When backlit, you can see that the interior is pretty juicy, and even clean enough in areas to yield some attractive gemstones, though I would never condone destroying a good specimen like this. If you're a fan of Tourmalines, it's likely that you don't have one of these in your collection, so don't miss out on this rare chance to pick up an attractive specimen from a rare locality for your collection.
