Item Description

Tourmaline specimens are EXTREMELY RARE from the pegmatites of the Karoi District, famous for finds of sharp and beautiful blue topaz and euclase crystals in the l970s. This impressive, large, elongated pencil has high luster and well-striated faces. It is nearly entirely a black schorl crystal, BUT the nifty highly modified pyramidal termination has some grass-green translucency, when backlit. Complete all-around and nearly pristine, with only a tiny bruise on the back of the termination tip and a bit of very modest contacting on one side. An exceptional and excellent rarity from the Tony Potucek Collection and was acquired from a prospector in Zimbabwe (Rhodesia) in the 1970s, according to his label. It was then in the Pala Intl tourmaline collection. 48 grams mass. Valued at $1500-1750 for super rarity and quality.
