Item Description

A striking spray of elongated tourmaline needles, to 5.8 cm, is dramatically visible on both sides within the thin, transparent, pearlescent sheet mica plate. MINDAT lists Dravite Tourmaline and Schorl for the locale, but there are NO examples in the locality Photo Gallery. The well-known extinct open pit pegmatite mine is famous for a variety of rare phosphates and silicates but actual tourmaline is super rare. Formerly in the collection of Jack Eaker, the mine assayer, while the quarry was in operation. Rare, nearly unique style of tourmaline in muscovite from the Foote Mine. Valued highly.
