Item Description
This is a lovely polished Tourmaline slice from the classic locality at Alto Ligonha, Mozambique dating back to the early 1960s. This famed pegmatite locale produced some of the most eye-catching polychrome Tourmaline specimens in the world for a time, and sometimes they are sliced and polished to better show their beautiful internal coloring. This piece is a wonderful polished slice featuring a muted olive green hue in the interior surrounded by a thin reddish-pink "rind". The periphery of the piece is complete all around, with no damage. A gorgeous example of these well-known and notably colorful Tourmalines. Specimen weight is 19.17 carats.
From the collection of Richard Kosnar, who obtained the piece (a broken crystal that was later sliced and polished) from Manuel Bettencourt Dias.
