Item Description

Here we have a beautiful old Tourmaline slice from the famous Himalaya Mine in San Diego County, dating back to the 1970s. The Himalaya Mine produced some of the most eye-catching polychrome Tourmaline specimens in the world for several decades, and sometimes they are sliced and polished to better show their beautiful internal coloring. This piece is a wonderful polished slice featuring a light green "rind" surrounding a lovely pink interior, creating a classic "watermelon" slice. The periphery of the piece is complete all around, with no damage. A gorgeous example of these well-known and notably colorful Tourmalines. Specimen weight is 18.15 carats.
From the collection of Richard ("Rich") A. Kosnar the well-known dealer and collector from Colorado (1946-2007).
