Tourmaline on Quartz (Chuck Houser Coll.)

Item Description

A very rare matrix specimen from the famous Vanderberg Mine for indicolite. This very aesthetic specimen features a 4.1 cm, lustrous schorl crystal with a gemmy indicolite termination strikingly perched on the edge of a steep termination of a glassy, translucent, euhedral, smoky quartz crystal. There is one very clean repair at the base of the large tourmaline on top (I only know because Chuck says so - I did not catch it, it's so clean, otherwise). Few matrix specimens from here have been found over the years, and they are highly treasured by San Diego County collectors. Ex Chuck Houser Collection. Valued at $1750.
