Item Description

A beautiful combination piece...and a significant specimen for the locale! This large (850 gram), unrepaired specimen is a well-trimmed shard of crystallized quartz, hosting an 8 x 3 x 3 cm tourmaline in its middle. The tourmaline stands dramatically, and is complete all around. It is pristine save only for a few very tiny dings, and in fact is in amazing condition that surprises me, given its exposure. It is freestanding, showing 360 degrees of termination. The termination ends in a fancy pyrimidal habit. In person, with good (but not excessive) lighting, the tourmaline is dark evergreen color. If you light it VERY strongly, you can see translucence at the edges but mostly the green color is a shimmering surface feature. Valued $2500 for the size of the tourmaline, for the location where such matrix pieces are uncommon, and for the condition.
