Item Description

A historic, old-time, polychrome tourmaline with cleavelandite from the famous Stewart Mine. The highly lustrous, well-striated crystal is moderately translucent. The body is green, with both the glassy termination and base being a rich purple. The crystal is beautifully accented with pink highlights. The complete all-around crystal is nicely complimented with bladed cleavelandite. The tourmaline is nearly pristine, with only very modest edgewear. The piece has a long hisory and excellent provenance. The piece was collected by American Musuem of Natural History in New York City in the early 1900s. It was de-accessed in 1950 to Robert Hesse and later became part of Bill Larson"s Pala International San Diego County Collection. Valued at $1500.
