Item Description

Highly desirable and true classic specimen from the world famous Tourmaline Queen Mine in San Diego County. This beautiful full-sized stout layered miniature is lustrous, gemmy/translucent, well-striated and features an impressive range of colors. The striking base is a vivid pink followed by a contrasting light green zone. An achroite (colorless) zone follows with a narrow pretty lilac section below the super glassy and lustrous, water-clear termination. The crystals GLOWS, when backlit. The contact lower on the front, where another crystal once lay, has no damage, per se. The contacted back is out-of-sight and has very little actual damage. This very fine old-timer probably came out in the mid-1970s, after the renowned Blue Cap Pocket was discovered in the 1971. These specimens are highly valued today and I could see this one in the $2000-2500 range. 68 grams mass. Ex Bill Larson San Diego collection.
