Item Description

This superb, gemmy, very transparent crystal is a classic style found in the late 1960s and early 1970s, from the famous Virgem de Lapa Mine. To this day, these lavender-colored tourmalines remain unique and highly desired, and are very rare. This particular piece was in the Keith Proctor (1980s) and Irv Brown (in the early 90s) collections. Most Virgem tourmaline sare somewhat larger and in fact this is the only such well-balanced, quality SMALLER example opf this style I can recall seeing now that I think about it. The tourmaline itself is 6 x 1.2 x 0.7 cm. I paid $1200 for this one, valued it at $1800, in the late 1990s. Valued $2000-2500 today
