Item Description
A very cool and certainly hard to find multicolor Tourmaline crystal with a most unusual and desirable color combination. The upper third of the crystal has a beautiful, gemmy, colorless "Achroite" zone that leads into a soft blue area in the middle third of the crystal which gives way to a lovely soft pink hue at the base (which is a bit lighter than the photos show). To find a Tourmaline crystal with such a large and distinct colorless section is EXCEPTIONALLY RARE So many mineral species are typically devoid of color, but it is exceedingly difficult to find Tourmalines that are colorless like this one. Overall, the piece is in amazingly good shape with superb luster on the prism faces and the complex pyramidal termination. Essentially damage free, save the base where it detached from the pocket. A beautiful and high quality Tourmaline crystal that is rarely seen on the market. The photos do not show the gemminess as well as I would like, but take my word for it, this piece is BETTER in person as the luster really does not come through, nor does the gemminess. A worthwhile and eye-catching gem crystal display specimen from one of the most famous pegmatite localities extant. The piece was priced in the inventory at $3500. Enjoy!
