Item Description
A lovely muti-crystal group of multicolored Tourmaline from Brazil. The hues range from pink to green to blue-green with nearly colorless areas. As you can see the specimen has been hydrothermally etched, creating graceful forms on all side. A bit of associated Quartz can be seen on the specimen as well. In addition, the topmost crystal shows a scepter habit with a green "base" and a light pink and blue-green "stem" flaring out. Some of the crystals are rather gemmy, while others are translucent. Further, you can clearly see a "cat's eye" chatoyant effect in several spots as you rotate the specimen in the light. This is certainly older material and hard to find on the market these days. A very showy and unusual Tourmaline thumbnail. Hard to photograph, but BETTER in person. From the collection of Rolando Gioia (a contributor to new definitive book on Brazilian minerals: "Minerais e Pedras Preciosas do Brasil").
