Tourmaline (multi-color) with Albite (ex Brian Kosnar Collection)

Item Description

This mine has produced some of the most famous Tourmaline specimens in the world. This piece features a robust, sharp, lustrous, gemmy, attractive multi-color crystal with a pink exterior hue and a green internal "core". When the piece is backlit, the two colors combine to create a wonderful peach hue. I love the termination on this piece, with the dramatic, striations and sculptural edges like a modern-art skyscraper. Associated bladed white crystals of Albite (var: Cleavelandite) make for a perfect accent, and there is a even a small group of gemmy lavender "Lepidolite" as well. I can't say for sure which pocket this piece is from, but I'm certain that there are Himalaya experts out there who would know. No damage that I can see, outside of the base of the piece where it was detached from the pocket wall. This crystal has wonderful color, excellent thickness, and is a fine representative gem crystal from this historic locality. Valued at $2,800. From the collection of Brian Kosnar.
