Item Description
While Afghanistan has produced some of the finest Tourmaline crystals in history, neighboring Pakistan doesn't have nearly the amount of Tourmaline deposits. The most famous Tourmaline locality in Pakistan is Stak Nala, well-known for producing beautiful multi-color crystals, often associated withe Quartz and Feldspar. This piece features a wonderful, sharp, lustrous, gemmy polychrome Tourmaline with colors ranging from a colorless "Achroite" hue on the termination into a very light blue-green zone, then into a soft greenish-yellow hue, and concluding with darker green and black shades as it eventually is cut off by the beautiful matrix consisting of bladed "flower"-like aggregates of Albite (var: Cleavelandite) that encompasses the entire Tourmaline crystal. If you look at the Tourmaline from the side, you can see there is almost a "phantom"-esque shape that looks like a smaller Tourmaline crystal inside, but it's essentially a result of the color zoning. A solitary crystal of Quartz and a partial Tourmaline crystal on the side make for wonderful accents on this eye-catching small cabinet sized display specimen. The Tourmaline measures 1.7 cm. Found in 2009, it is a great example of what makes Stak Nala Tourmalines so popular. Priced in the inventory at $1,750.
