Item Description

The famous Himalaya Mine has produced some of the most iconic, eye-catching and colorful Tourmaline specimens in the world. This piece is a beautiful, sharp, lustrous, gemmy, attractive multi-color crystal with a strong pink hue on one end of the prism, which transitions into a silvery-yellow zone in the center, with a vibrant green color on the other end. Minor white Microcline is attached on the green end of the crystal. When the piece is backlit, the colors really stand out. I can't say for sure which pocket this piece is from, but I'll be that there are Himalaya experts out there who might know. The back of the crystal is incomplete where presumably it grew against the pocket wall, but it's not altogther damaged, and upon close inspection, I can see that it is at least in part recrystallized ("re-healed"). A classic small cabinet sized representative gem crystal from this historic locality. Specimen weight is 66.28 grams. From the collection of Christian Weise, the long time publisher of the acclaimed German mineral magazine, Lapis. Valued at $2,000 retail.
