Tourmaline (multi-color) (ex Brian Kosnar Collection)

Item Description

The famous Himalaya Mine has produced some of the most iconic, eye-catching and colorful Tourmaline specimens in the world. This piece is a robust, sharp, lustrous, gemmy, attractive multi-color crystal with a lovely green hue at the termination, which grades into various shades of blues, pinks, greens and yellows and finishes with a very dark green (virtually black) hue at the base). When the piece is backlit, the colors really stand out. I can't say for sure which pocket this piece is from, but I'll bet that there are Himalaya experts out there who might know. There is a spot on the back of the crystal where another Tourmaline presumably once grew, or it grew against the pocket wall, but it doesn't appear to be damaged, as upon close inspection, I can see that it is at least partially recrystallized ("re-healed").
