The Himalaya Mine in San Diego County, California is one of the most well-known Tourmaline localities, not just in the US, but the world. This historic mine dates back to the early 20th century when the Tourmaline crystals were largely sold to Chinese buyers and carved into perfume bottles. In addition to the gem rough, this mine produced some of the most iconic, eye-catching and colorful Tourmaline crystals ever found. This specimen is a beautiful, sharp, lustrous, gemmy, attractive multi-color crystal featuring a glowing green termination, which transitions into a thin light blue zone, then into a wonderful pink hue, throughout the rest of the crystal. When the piece is backlit, the colors and gemminess really stand out. I can't say for sure which pocket this piece is from, but I'll bet that there are Himalaya experts out there who might know. Minor "Lepidolite" is also present on the piece for a nice touch. A classic gem crystal from this historic locality. Specimen weight is 19.65 grams. Valued at $1,250.
