Tourmaline (multi-color)

Here we have a very attractive multi-color crystal group of Tourmaline from Barra do Salinas. The piece features four individual crystals, intergrown to form an aesthetic display specimen. The piece is in excellent shape overall as the terminations are undamaged, though the back/underside is contacted where the piece was removed from the pocket wall. Surprisingly, the piece is UN-REPAIRED as far as I can tell, I can't see any repairs anywhere. With backlighting, the piece is fairly gemmy showing a mixture of various shades of blues and pinks with a very dark (virtually opaque) hue on the terminations. You can see on the exposed / contacted areas that the rich pink hue is surrounded by the blue exterior color of the Tourmalines, creating a "watermelon"-esque effect. The piece was difficult to properly backlight, and it does look better in person. Specimen weight is 42.3 grams. Valued $1,500.
