Item Description

The Stewart Mine is renowned for gorgeous, "hot-pink" tourmaline, but has also produced very fine bi-colored tourmalines, such as this very fine combination example. This very glassy, well-striated crystal is mostly black schorl or very dark green. A very narrow, teal-blue zone is followed by a colorless layer, then a pastel-pink layer, ending up with a gemmy, sea foam-green top with a lustrous, frosted/etched termination. The tourmaline is beautifully accented with lustrous, lavender lepidolite books and glassy quartz crystals. The tourmaline is complete all-around and nearly pristine, with only barely noticeable, trival, termination edgewear. This is old-time, classic, high quality combination material from this renowned locale, 1970s or 60s. Ex Maury Morgenstein Collection, an old-time San Diego miner.
