Item Description
Fascinating, sculptural polished tourmaline combination slab from Malkhan. The striking 4.5 x 4.5 cm, glassy zoned polychrome trigonal tourmaline has a gorgeous gem golden-yellow core. Classic tranlucent cranberry-red and light pink zones follow. The outer lustrous, striated rind is greenish-brown. This is an uncommon and beautiful polychrome tourmaline varietal from the now famous pegmatites at Malkhan. The tourmaline is artistically set against plumose florets of lavender lepidolite and starkly contrasting massive orthoclase-microcline. A classic chemical pegmatite association with Lithium in both the Tourmaline and Lepidolite, this tells the story of how the pocket formed, to mineralogists.
