Item Description
This fairly large, 216-gram tourmaline started as a single crystal, and as it grew it split into multiple terminations that splay apart and get broader towards the termination at top - very dramatic! The elbaite is bicolored with the bottom 2/3 being pink, then a 1.5 cm apple green zone, followed by really glassy and sharp multiple peaks of terminations. In some lighting, the terminations honestly have a purple-lavender tone to them, but in most lighting it is a rich pink hue with touches of lavender. The crystal is lustrous on its body as well (though the terminations are even more lustrous), and translucent in the bottom 2/3rds, particularly. The terminations vary in length, thus giving the specimen a very sculptural and dramatic effect effect, combined with the slight splay apart. This is a classic and lovely example of the modern Paprok tourmalines! It is a bit beyond the average quality because of the fine and glassy terminations. A piece like this should be valued at $2500-3500, I think quite reasonably, at any show or dealer. I could see it going quite higher, for that matter.
