Item Description

A very attractive and classic gemmy Tourmaline crystal from San Diego County, California (possibly the Himalaya Mine?). The crystal has beautiful tri-color appearance with a soft pink hue at the base, a slight colorless area in the center a bluish-green zone leading up to the termination. The crystal come from the collection of Willard W. Wulff (1904-1998) of Colorado Springs, Colorado, a prominent figure and collector of Colorado minerals. Wulff was one of the founding members of the Colorado Springs Mineralogical Society in 1936. You can read Willard's bio on the Mineralogical Record website here ( http://www.minrec.org/labels.asp?colid=1528 ). The piece come mounted diagonally in a "Perky" box from Wulff that states the specimen was personally collected by the legendary field collector, Edwin Over, who was also one of the founding members of the CSMS with men like Wulff, Lazard Cahn and George White. A wonderfully historic and eye-catching piece from this well known material from around 70 years ago.
