Item Description
This mine has produced some of the most famous Tourmaline specimens in the world. This is an old-time small cabinet / large miniature specimen (pre-Larson mining) as the collection label that accompanies states that the piece was purchased in 1963. Most people associate vivid pink and green Tourmalines with the Himalaya Mine, but the older material almost looks like it came from a completely different locality altogether. If you collecto San Diego County Tourmalines, or even worldwide Tourmalines, or just interesting minerals from the United States, this is a great one for you! The piece features a predominant pair of sharp, gemmy, olive-green pyramidal crystals of Tourmaline measuring up to 1.5 cm with minor associated Tourmalines sitting on vivid pinkish Microcline matrix. Very little matrix to speak of and it's actually aesthetic! Keep in mind how rare it is to find a MATRIX specimen of Tourmaline from this mine, let alone an UN-REPAIRED matrix specimen. A very cool and colorful multi-crystal specimen from this renowned U.S. locality. Ex Bob Trimingham Collection.
