Item Description

The famed Pederneira Mine in Brazil has produced some of the most impressive, aesthetic and fine quality Tourmaline specimens in the world. The high quality and beautiful color of the crystals found at this mine makes it one of the premier Tourmaline localities extant. This piece is a fantastic large miniature / small cabinet featuring a predominant, sharp, lustrous, doubly-terminated prismatic crystal of blue-green colored Tourmaline (with a tiny bit of almost yellowish coloring near the middle of the crystal) measuring 3.3 cm long, aesthetically perched atop a matrix of soft-purple colored "Lepidolite" and white bladed Albite. Additional smaller gemmy Tourmaline crystals can be seen flaring in different directions out of the matrix, creating a dazzling effect. The main Tourmaline crystal is WATER CLEAR in the upper portion. Very little damage overall, and you couldn't ask for better aesthetics / form. A fantastic example of this classic and world-renowned material. Valued at $3,500 retail. From the collection of Kurt Hefendehl (#153 Br), a well-known German collector all over Europe with worldwide contacts to dealers and collectors. He started collecting seriously at the age of 14 and his great and varied worldwide collection reached over 6000 pieces. He was very active mineralogically until shortly before his passing in 2020 at the age of 82. Considering his collection had a large number of pieces, it still had an unusually high standard of quality from most worldwide localities. He particularly specialized in all classics as well as minerals of the Black Forest, where he spent much time collecting. His Black Forest and German subcollections went to his good friend Wolfgang Wendel. We at The Arkenstone have the privilege of offering the remainder of this great worldwide collection over the next two to three years through our various platforms.
