Item Description

When it comes to Tourmaline specimens that have been found over the last few decades, Afghanistan has been a major source of some of the finest Tourmaline crystals ever found, but oddly, neighboring Pakistan doesn't have nearly the amount of Tourmaline deposits. The one exception is the most famous Tourmaline locality in Pakistan, Stak Nala, which for many years has produced distinctive and beautiful multi-color crystals, often associated withe Quartz and/or Feldspar. This dramatic and highly displayable specimen piece feature a few excellent, very sharp, lustrous gemmy polychrome Tourmaline with colors ranging from a colorless "Achroite" "caps" on the terminations into a very thin vibrant green zone, then into a very dark green (virtually black) hue throughout a good portions of the crystals, ending with beautiful pink trigonal terminations on the other end, which are associated with white bladed crystals of Albite (var: Cleavelandite). The three main Tourmalines are all doubly-terminated and complete, and the piece is nearly a "floater", as it's largely crystallized everywhere, save for a few tiny points of attachment around the Albite blades. The largest Tourmaline measures 5.1 cm. Found in 2005, it is a great small cabinet sized example of what makes Stak Nala Tourmalines so popular. No damage that I can find. A really showy, dramatic, three-dimensional display piece of this classic material.
