Item Description
A very beautiful and aesthetic, triply doubly terminated, polychrome tourmaline crystal cluster from the famed Himalaya Mine. All three tourmalines, including the tiny one on the tip of the very jaunitly set sidecar crystal are doubly terminated. The gemmy, striated bodies grade from a very pleasing pink to light green to nearly colorless at the terminations. One termination on the large crystal has the peculiar, very interesting, etched, columnar look. This is a visually impressive, older, unusually gemmy Himalaya tourmline that is totally pristine and comes from the Steve Smale Collection. His label has a $1500 price on it, which was his value on a trade we concluded but which reflected his pricing as of the early 90s when he last had that flat of tourmalines at a show. Value today on such an unusual and fine Himalaya tourmaline is $2000 easily, at a minimum. This is a major spiker for this auction, from a well known collection.
