Item Description

Pakistan is well-known for its beautiful pegmatite minerals, including fine Aquamarines, Garnets, Topaz, etc., but when it comes to production of Tourmaline specimens, Pakistan is typically outshined by the pieces from nearby Afghanistan. Recently, we've seen some beautiful, unique and distinctive Tourmalines coming out of Chhappu. While this locality is not typically known for its Tourmalines, this piece came from a small pocket a couple years ago, and is one of the better example we've had to offer from the find. It hosts a few attractive gemmy, prismatic crystals of Tourmaline which doubly-terminated showing intense almost chrome green colored terminations on both ends, with a notably lighter yellow-green hue in the middle. Yellow is a fairly rare color for Tourmaline, and certainly not common from Pakistan whatsoever. There is also a small contacted area on one spot that shows rare colorless ("Achroite") hues in the center of the crystal. The colorless area also has a bit of "cat's eye" effect to it when rotated in the light. Overall it's a good quality, showy and desirable specimen from a fairly hard to find locality in Pakistan. Specimen weight is 30.2 grams.
