Item Description

This is a gorgeous, bright, very colorful tourmaline from modern finds in Goma of 2019-20. A lot of material was removed quickly, and we still are not sure exactly how much came out, but these are, in any level, destined to become modern classics. We have not seen such an exciting new tourmaline find from a new locality in many years! Sadly this is also where a volcano just erupted, and future supply may be restricted. This is a 2021 cover piece of the German mineral magazine Mineralien Welt, which likes to populate covers with examples of new finds. Pristine, save only one tiny ding on a side (which is so insignificant that we have chosen not to fill with restoration as many do today, leaving it natural). This particular crystal is notable because it is the cover piece, but more importantly because it has no repairs or restorations, and is just such a beautiful and elegant example of this new find. It is a robust piece, 97.2 grams. Custom base included. Valued $6500-plus.
