Item Description

The historic Mount Mica Quarry in Maine is one of the most well-known Tourmaline localities in the United States. The locality dates back to the 1820s, producing iconic specimens for many decades. This piece is a rarely seen "cat's eye" Tourmaline specimen from this famous quarry featuring a 1.6 cm group of lustrous, dark green colored prismatic crystals sitting on Microcline matrix. You can see the beautiful chatoyant reflectiveness in the crystals when they are rotated in the light. A lovely display quality specimen of this renowned material from one of New England's great pegmatite localities. From the collection of Gerry Morvell.
