Tourmaline (Cat's Eye)

Here is something that truly isn't as common as one might think, as there are not very many stones that are found with the Cat's Eye effect. Tourmalines are beloved because they are found in virtually every color and have some of the most vivid and rich pinks, greens and blues of any gems out there. When you add in the rarely seen Cat's Eye effect, they become evern more enticing. Cat's Eye stones are created by orienting the gem rough perpendicular to the tiny fibrous inclusions inside which in turn reflect the light causing an "eye" to appear. This gem is a rich green "oval cabochon" gem with a good quality "eye" running across the stone. The stone was photographed using a strong pen light to show off the "eye" better. A beautiful representation of this classic and "eye"-catching material.
