Item Description

This is the big spiker in this week's auction, valued in the inventory at $6500. Afghanistan has been supplying the western market with remarkable Tourmaline specimens for over 30 years now, and this beautiful bicolored gem crystal group is no exception. There are several excellent, sharp, gemmy, glassy, striated trigonal prisms with notable pink hues at the base, that transition into varying shades of green in the upper portions of the crystals, and grade back into pink at the terminations! An impressive and richly colored Tourmaline group from what is one of the premier countries in the world for the material. The main crystal is nearly pristine save one tiny spot on the side of the termination. Tourmalines have been and remain to be some of the single most popular minerals among collectors and dealers alike, and with color and clarity like this, it's very easy to see why.
