Tourmaline (bi-color) (ex Rolando Gioia Collection)

Item Description

Brazil that has produced thousands if not millions of Tourmaline crystals in the last 75+ years. The overall coloration of this crystal is very attractive for Tourmaline, as the prism is split between bright pink and a more subdued blue (almost purple in certain lighting) combination of colors. The crystal is rather gemmy, and the split of color is not limited to a single direction as the basal termination shows a vivid pink hue, but then there are vertical streaks of pink and blue / purple color than run the length of the crystal. Overall, the piece is in good shape, though there is a contacted area on the back where it either grew against the pocket wall or possibly was connected to another Tourmaline crystal at some point in time.
