Item Description
Brazil that has produced thousands if not millions of Tourmaline crystals in the last 75+ years. The overall coloration of this crystal is very attractive for Tourmaline, as the prism is split between bright pink and a more subdued blue (almost purple in certain lighting) combination of colors. The crystal is rather gemmy, and the split of color is not limited to a single direction as the basal termination shows a vivid pink hue, but then there are vertical streaks of pink and blue / purple color than run the length of the crystal. Overall, the piece is in good shape, though there is a contacted area on the back where it either grew against the pocket wall or possibly was connected to another Tourmaline crystal at some point in time. Specimen weight is 3.15 grams. From the collection of Rolando Gioia (a contributor to new definitive book on Brazilian minerals: "Minerais e Pedras Preciosas do Brasil").
