Item Description

A beautiful Tourmaline specimen from the Minh Tien Mine in Vietnam that came out in the early 2000s featuring a group of sharp, lustrous, gemmy, prismatic trigonal crystals that feature soft pink and green hues, creating a lovely bi-colored appearance, sitting on mica and feldspar matrix. These Tourmalines were once thought to be Liddicoatite, but single crystal XRD and WDS analysis are needed to confirm which members of the Tourmaline group are present. The piece is in good condition, though there is a broken crystal termination on the front/center portion of the group, so the piece is not 100% pristine. Still it's a very attractive example of these elusive specimens, very few of these are on the market now, so if you're a Tourmaline fan and you missed out on these years ago, be sure to pick this one up. Valued at $1,750. From the collection of Vasco Trancoso, a medical doctor and prominent mineral collector from near Lisbon, Portugal (https://www.mindat.org/user-11954.html). He assembled his mineral collection over the course of 60 years, and built a fine worldwide display collection that we recently purchased. This piece is pictured on mindat.org at https://www.mindat.org/photo-192356.html
