Item Description
Tourmaline is beloved by collectors for its wide range of vivid colors. Recently in the Oyo State of Nigeria there was a find of superb Tourmaline which are now known as "Sunset Tourmaline". The rich hues seen make these stones very enticing for collectors. For reference, we've been told that the actual species is Dravite, but I cannot confirm this. This particular gem is a beautiful, nearly eye clean stone with a lovely dichroic color change that begins with a unique golden "extra virgin olive oil" color face up, that changes to a beautiful green hue when rotated 90 degrees and viewed through the girlde. Slight green, yellow and gold highlights can be seen depending upon the angle at which the stone is viewed as well. This gem was custom facetd by Allyce Kosnar in July 2012 and has a "Radiant Antique Octagon" cut. It seems that these stones have quickly dried up from the market, and they are retailing for fairly high numbers with some dealers, so don't miss out on this fantastic Tourmaline of an uncommon color with beautiful custom cutting. A beautiful stone that truly looks better in person, as the highlights really do not show up very well in the photos. Priced at $425 high retail.
