Tourmalines are some of the most diverse and popular gems out there. The stone shows a deep blue-green color, which is accentuated by the attractive "Quantum" or concave cutting on the pavillion. Essentially, there are tiny "grooves" that are cut into the base of the stone, which reflects the light at a higher degree than traditional cutting. This allows a gem like Tourmaline to have more "life", especially in a darker gem. One of the most impressive aspects of this gem is the fact that virtually eye clean which is remarkable for Tourmaline. Tourmaline is classified as a "Type 3" gemstone, as inclusions are almost always present, and accepted by dealers and collectors, so when you find a nearly clean stone like this, it's a real treat.
