This particular gem was cut from a piece of rough found a few years ago in Afghanistan The stone has a wonderful bright blue-green color, almost reminiscent of the classic Paraiba Tourmalines gems. The stone has an "Oval Cabochon" cut. Tourmaline is classified as a "Type 3" gemstone, as inclusions are almost always present, and accepted by dealers and collectors, and this gem has some slight inclusions, which is perfectly acceptable for the material. I have to say that price of the gem grade Tourmaline is going UP, and over the past few years, we've seen prices that were nearly 30% higher than what we're used to, so don't miss out on this stone.
