Item Description

A dramatic CABINET combination specimen from the famed Himalaya Mine. Two, lustrous and translucent tourmaline crystals are embedded in the side of a flattened, glassy, transparent to translucent, doubly terminated quartz crystal. The stunning and classic, bi-color tourmaline is 3.4 cm. The base of this well-striated crystal is bottle-green followed by classic, very pretty, Himalaya pink. A thin, teal-blue zone is noted under the frosted, moderately lustrous temination. A termination corner is contacted, with no damage, per se and an infinitesimal wilber is noted on anther edge. The other tourmaline is 2.6 cm and is variable shades of olive-green, with some areas being very gemmy. The smoky is color-zoned and transparency-zoned. Both terminations are partially contacted. This remains a very impressive, older, large, tourmaline and quartz combination specimen from the famous Himalaya Mine. Pala International donated this fine piece to the 1986 Mineralogical Record Benefit Auction at the Tucson Show. valued 1000
