Item Description

The Stewart Mine is renowned for gorgeous, hot-pink tourmaline, but has also produced very fine bi-colored tourmalines, such as this very fine combination example. This 1.9 cm, very glassy, well-striated crystal has 4 color zones: a dark green base; a narrow pastel-pink zone; a pretty, gemmy, and wider, indicolite-blue zone; and ending with the frosted, purple termination. The tourmaline is superbly placed on top of showy cluster of glassy, frosted, smoky quartz crystals. One smoky has partially enveloped the tourmaline. Striking. There are even a few lustrous, lavender lepidolite crystals on the sides There is one, very clean, barely noticeable repair to the tourmaline. Old material from the 1960s, and very seldom available in this exceptional combination quality. Ex Maury Morgenstein Collection (an old-time San Diego miner and gem dealer).
