Item Description

Santa Cruz is well-known for its black, 'velvety,' iron and magnesium-rich Tourmalines, be they Dravite or Schorl. What makes this specimen exceptional is that the major, 4.2 cm Tourmaline that is the focal point of this cluster is a Dravite. And not just any Dravite, because it is slender, prismatic, deep green, and GEMMY. Yes, you can finds gemmy green Dravites elswhere, but it is a true rarity for Santa Cruz, and a good Tourmaline by any standard. Previously in the collections of Alex Mann (?) and Eugene Carmichael. From the large worldwide collection of historical minerals, of George Elling of New Jersey.
