Item Description

A sculptural, dense parallel-growth and surprising tourmaline from an unknown pegamatite in the famous Governador Valadares areas of Minas Gerais. The 360-degree trigonal crystal with a partial pyramidal termination is composed of a myriad of stepped parallel-growth crystals. The specimen appears to be very dark green to nearly a black schorl under normal light. BUT - brighter light reveals high lustre on the olive-green prisms and back lighting reveals a bright GLOW of gemmy, light olive-green color saturation! Complete all-around and nearly pristine. It hard to see the one spot of termination bruising to crystals tips below the termination on one side. Each of the three sides are distinctively different. A fine, impressive and unusual green tourmaline from the locale. 74 grams mass.
