Item Description
A striking, classic multi-color Tourmaline specimen from one of the very first localities in the world to produce true red Tourmaline. When they were first discovered, there were no specimens coming from Brazil or Nigeria etc and it was some of the most treasured gem material in all of Europe. This beautiful and well-formed crystal has excellent luster and sharpness with a soft orange-pink hue at the termination which grades into a straw color, then a greenish-golden hue, then more of an olive-brown to nearly black at the base. The piece is complete all the way around, and has such sharp, smooth faces! The piece is virtually damage free, save one tiny flea-bite that I can see with a loupe at the back of the termination. A very worthwhile and eye-catching full miniature sized display specimen of this beloved material. These specimens are hard to find in good quality crystals these days, as I understand a lot of them never make their way out of Russia. Priced at $695 by the former dealer, but arguably worth more today.
