Item Description
Here we have a trio of unusual Tourmaline crystals from the famous Himalaya Mine. This locality is one of the great Tourmaline producers in North America, yielding a wide range of colorful and sometimes morphologically unusual crystals. These particular specimens were self-collected by Bill Larson in the 1970s. All three crystals show tremendous etching, producing notably sculptural crystals, with thin "spires" of pink Rubellite flaring up from the green terminations. There is an unknown white/beige mineral present as well, presumably pocket clay(?), but possibly some kind of feldspar. The video for this listing is the best way to see the three-dimensional quality of these crystals. If you collect gem crystals, Tourmalines, minerals of San Diego County, or just unusual crystals, do NOT pass up this wonderful set from this prestigious locality. From the collection of Bill Larson of Fallbrook, California. Bill is a well-known gem and mineral dealer as well as a miner and collector. Bill is synonymous with minerals of San Diego County, and owned and operated famous mines such as the Stewart Lithia, the Tourmaline Queen, the Pala Chief and the Himalaya, producing some of the most iconic mineral specimens to come out of the area during the 1970s-1980s.
