This is a dramatic and very colorful crystal of well formed, lustrous and gemmy, elbaite. The top 2 cm at the termination is a rich, gemmy, strawberry red, while the large center section of the crystal shows off a gemmy, emerald green to grassy green coloration. The bottom 2 cm exhibits an orangy-brown color. The gem weight of this exquisite crystal is 106 grams. A truly stunning, gem crystal of elbaite! These pieces were nicknamed "Christmas Color tourmalines" and came out in a single pocket a few years ago (perhaps 2007). I bought nearly all of the pocket at that time, direct in Brazil. They sold very well, and nothing like them has come out since. I just got this one back on a liquidation tradeout, and so here it is. Valued $3000 easily, this is a SUPERB and imposing piece. Note that the lighting shown here is our normal camera lighting. Nothing fancy, no strong backlighting with a torch under the piece, etc. It is that intense.
